This book is based on a lecture course entitled The Principles of Jet Propulsion given by the author in 1943 and 1944, under the sponsorship of the University of California ESMWT program, to graduate engineers working in the aircraft companies located in the Los Angeles area.
It was decided in preparing the original lecture notes to discuss basic principles only, and in order to conform with the wartime restrictions on security only unclassified material was included. Since the manuscript for this book was completed during the war years the same policy was observed in its preparation. This introduced certain difficulties, because it, was necessary to omit certain data and useful information. It is felt, however, that because the discussions in this book are confined to basic principles the observance of the interests of military security has not impaired the attainment of the main objectives: the presentation of requisite fundamental theory pertinent to an intelligent understanding of jet-propulsion engines and gas-turbine power plants. Although the book is written primarily for the student, and not for the specialist, it is hoped that it will also be useful to those actively engaged in the aforementioned fields.
In preparing the manuscript the author was guided by the experience obtained in teaching the ESMWT course discussed above. He found that the interest in the subject cross-sectioned various branches of engineering. For that reason certain material which may not be necessary for instructing aeronautical engineering students has been included. The instructor must use his own judgment in the selection and order of the subject matter to be taught. The author has drawn freely from the unclassified literature, and credit is due to those authors, professional societies, , and manufacturers who were kind enough to permit the use of their material. In this connection the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics deserves special mention. References to publications are given in the text, and those used in any chapter are collected at the end of that chapter.

This text provides a complete introduction to gas turbine and rocket propulsion for aerospace and mechanical engineers. Building on the very successful Elements of Gas Turbine Propulsion, textbook coverage has been expanded to include rocket propulsion and the material on gas dynamics has been dramatically improved. The text is divided into four parts: basic concepts and gas dynamics; analysis of rocket propulsion systems; parametric (design point) and performance (off-design) analysis of air breathing propulsion systems; and analysis and design of major gas turbine engine components (fans, compressors, turbines, inlets, nozzles, main burners, and afterburners).

Design concepts are introduced early (aircraft and rocket performance in an introductory chapter) and integrated throughout. Written with extensive student input on the design of the book, the book builds upon definitions and gradually develops the thermodynamics, gas dynamics, rocket engine analysis, and gas turbine engine principles. The book contains over 100 worked examples and numerous homework problems so concepts are applied after they are introduced. Over 600 illustrations and pictures show basic concepts, trends, and design examples.

Eight computer programs accompany the text, which allow for rapid calculation of trends, what if questions, conceptual design, homework problems, and homework verification. The software runs in the Windows operating system on PC-compatible systems.

About the Author
Jack D. Mattingly received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Washington. While studying for his doctorate under Gordon C. Oates, he pioneered research in the mixing of coannular swirling flows and developed a major new test facility. During his 40 years of experience in analysis and design of propulsion and thermodynamic systems, he has written two engineering textbooks, developed aerothermodynamic cycle analysis models, and created engineering software for air-breathing propulsion systems. Dr. Mattingly was previously at the Aero Propulsion Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB where he directed exploratory and advanced development programs aimed at improving the performance, reliability, and durability of gas turbine engine components. He retired from active duty with the U.S. Air Force in 1989 and joined the faculty of Seattle University. In 2000 he retired from Seattle University as Professor Emeritus in Mechanical Engineering to dedicate his efforts to writing this textbook and a new edition of Aircraft Engine Design, teaching short courses, and consulting. Dr. Mattingly has more than 35 years of experience in Engineering Education, earlier as a senior member of the Department of Aeronautics at the United States Air Force Academy, where he established a top undergraduate propulsion program. In addition, he has taught and done research in propulsion and thermal energy systems at the Air Force Institute of Technology, University of Washington, University of Notre Dame, University of Wisconsin, and IBM Corp. He was also founder of the AIAA/Air Breathing Propulsion Team Aircraft Engine Design Competition for undergraduate students. Among his many distinguished teaching awards is Outstanding Educator for 1992 from Seattle University. Having published more than 25 technical papers, articles, and textbooks in his field, Dr. Mattingly authored Elements of Gas Turbine Propulsion (1995) and was co-author of Aircraft Engine Design, Second Edition (2002), an unprecedented conceptual design textbook for air breathing engines that won the 2005 AIAA Summerfield Book Award.

The main goal of this text is to prove analytically and validate experimentally that synchronization in multi-composed mechanical systems can be achieved in the case of partial knowledge of the state vector of the systems, i.e. when only positions are measured. Because mechanical systems include a large variety of systems, and since it is impossible to address all of them, the book focuses on robot manipulators. Gas turbine handbook principles and practices

Through the design experience developed for steam turbines and available to gas turbines, it is not surprising that gas generator compressors, turbines, and power-extraction turbines bear a striking resemblance to each other and to the steam turbine. Nor should it be surprising that the axial flow compressors of today’s gas turbines resemble the reaction steam turbine with the flow direction reversed. While many people today recognize the similarities between steam and gas turbine components, most do not fully appreciate the common history these two products share. History tells us that the idea for the gas turbine and the steam turbine were conceived simultaneously. As early as 1791, John Barber’s patent for the steam turbine described other fluids or gases as potential energy sources. “John Barber invented what may be considered a gas turbine in which gas was produced from heated coal, mixed with air, compressed and then burnt. This produced a high speed jet that impinged on radial blades on a turbine wheel rim.”1 John Barber’s ideas, as well as those before him (Giovanni Branca’s impulse steam turbine—1629, Leonardo da Vinci’s “smoke mill”—1550, and Hero of Alexandria’s reaction steam turbine—130 BC)2 were just ideas. Even though the gas turbines described by these early visionaries would today be more accurately termed ‘turboexpanders’ (the source of compressed air or gas being a by-product of a separate process), there is no evidence that any of these ideas were ever turned into working hardware until the late 19th Century.

پمپ هاي گريز از مركز

پره‌های هدایت دوحلزونی در ضمن باعث تقویت بیشتر داخل بدنه و کاهش بار تنش اعمال شده بر روی جداره پمپ می‌شود. این سیستم دوحلزونی را می‌توان بدون خطر چندانی از لحاظ تطبیق نادرست، برای انواع بدنة یکپارچه و دوپارچة پمپ‌ها به‌کار گرفت، چرا که روش‌های ریخته‌گری در چند سال اخیر به پیشرفت‌های زیادی نائل شده است. این طرح همچنین در پمپ‌های چندمرحله‌ای به‌منظور ایجاد توازن در ارتفاع رانش سیال و هدایت آن به دهانة مکش مرحلة بعدی به‌کار گرفته می‌شود.
    به‌منظور تقویت بیشتر بدنه پمپ‌ها، بسیاری از پمپ‌های با ارتفاع زیاد با استفاده از دنده یا آج بیرونی ساخته می‌شوند. این دنده‌ها معمولاً عمود بر جهت جریان سیال نصب می‌شوند. بدنة پمپ می‌تواند یکپارچه یا دوپارچه باشد. پمپ‌های یکپارچه معمولاً از نوع مکش انتهایی بوده و همواره دارای پوشش یا صفحة قابل برداشتن می‌باشند. این صفحه امکان دسترسی آسان به پروانه یا محور پمپ را فراهم می‌سازد (گرچه ممکن است صفحة مکش قابل برداشتن باشد، اما پمپ یکپارچه تلقی می‌شود، زیرا بدنة بخش تخلیة پمپ به‌صورت یکپارچه ساخته شده است).
    بدنه دوپارچه دو نوع است: افقی یا محوری و شعاعی. در نوع افقی یا محوری، برش در امتداد خط مرکزی محور بوده و اجازه می‌دهد نیمة بالایی بدنة پمپ کاملاً برداشته شده، و در نتیجه دسترسی به محور پمپ، پروانه و یاتاقان‌های آن امکان‌پذیر شود. اصطلاح افقی ربطی به افقی بودن وضعیت پمپ یا بدنة آن ندارد. اگر پمپ به‌صورت عمودی نیز نصب شده باشد، می‌تواند بدنة دو پارچة افقی داشته باشد- بنابراین اصطلاح مذکور به روش برش بدنه دلالت دارد، و نه به وضعیت پمپ.
    بدنه پمپ همچنین می‌تواند برش شعاعی داشته باشد. البته قبلاً به این طرح برش عمودی می‌گفتند، بدین مفهوم که برش بر خط مرکزی محور عمود بوده است. اما این اصطلاح گمراه‌کننده بوده و اکنون به‌جای آن لفظ شعاعی را به‌کار می‌گیرند.
    اگر بدنه برش شعاعی داشته باشد، می‌تواند شامل چند بخش باشد (به ويژه در مورد پمپ‌های چندمرحله‌ای) که مطابق شکل 2-7 به یکدیگر پیچ و مهره می‌شوند. این طرح باعث کاهش هزینة ساخت و ریخته‌گری پمپ‌های چندمرحله‌ای می‌شود.

    گاهی برخی از بدنه‌های پمپ‌ها برش افقی خورده، لیکن در یک صفحة مورب قرار می‌گیرند. بدین طریق، تخلیة عمودی سیال از طریق یک لولة پیوسته به‌جای یک لولة ناپیوسته امکان‌پذیر می‌شود.
    بسیاری از پمپ‌های گریز از مرکز با دهانة مکش انتهایی ساخته می‌شوند و یک نقطة تخلیة عمودی یا افقی دارند. از آنجا که پمپ‌های کوچکتر معمولاً با یک پایة نگهدارنده ریخته می‌شوند، جهت جریان از پیش توسط طراحی پمپ تعیین می‌شود. اگر بدنة پمپ مستقل از چارچوب نگهدارندة آن نصب گردد، نقطة تخلیه یا خروجی می‌تواند در وضعیت‌های مختلف قرار گیرد. جهت یا محل نقطة تخلیه در دایره به تعداد مهره‌های نگهدارندة مربوطه بستگی دارد.
    در پمپ‌های با مکش دوگانه، دهانه‌های ورودی و خروجی معمولاً در یک صفحة افقی واحد قرار دارند که زیر خط مرکزی پمپ و در دو طرف مقابل یکدیگر بر روی پمپ واقع شده‌اند. برخی از پمپ‌های با مکش دوگانه مطابق شکل 2-8 هستند که دهانة مکش آنها در پایین و دهانة رانش آنها در پهلوی پمپ قرار دارد. اکثر پمپ‌های با مکش دوگانه دارای بدنه با برش افقی‌اند.

    همانگونه که قبلاً گفته شد، مکانیزم آب‌بندی می‌تواند از نوع مکانیکی یا کاسه‌نمد باشد. انتخاب هریک از این دو به ساختمان پمپ و سیال مورد استفاده و ملاحظات سازنده بستگی دارد.
    در پمپ‌هایی که سیالات داغ را جابه‌جا می‌کنند، کاسه‌نمد معمولاً با نوعی خنک‌کننده پیش‌بینی می‌شود، که این خنک‌کننده می‌تواند آب سرد، گاز و یا برحسب سیال مورد استفاده، هر مایع دیگری باشد. در برخی از کاربردها، ممکن است لازم باشد بدنة پمپ و هرگونه یاتاقان نگهدارندة محور پمپ نیز خنک شود.

پروانه پمپ
    پروانة پمپ مهمترین بخش پمپ می‌باشد، چراکه اندازه، شکل و سرعت آن ظرفیت پمپ را در تمام شرایط تعیین می‌نماید. شکل 2-9 انواع مختلف پروانه را نشان می‌دهد. نوع پروانه با تیغة سادة کونیک و با روپوش منفرد معمولاً در صنایع کوچک به‌کار می‌رود. پروانه با تیغة ساده همچنین می‌تواند دارای دو روپوش باشد. نوع دیگر این پروانه دارای تیغة خمیده یا شعاعی است. این پروانه غالباً برای انتقال مواد شامل توده‌های جامد یا ذرات درشت معلق به‌کار می‌رود و سرعت بیشتری به مادة پمپ‌شونده می‌بخشد.

پروانه با تیغه شعاعی در دو طرح باز و بسته عرضه می‌شود. طرح باز آن مطابق شکل 2-10 دارای روپوش جزئی بوده که در مقایسه با پروانه‌های دیگر کوچکتر می‌باشد. روپوش این پروانه‌های نوع باز فقط قسمت پشت پروانه را می‌پوشاند. ارتفاع تیغه پروانه بسته به طرح و کاربرد موردنظر می‌تواند از نیم تا دو اینچ تغییر کند. قطر پروانه همراه با ظرفیت پمپ، ارتفاع پروانه لازم را تعیین می‌کند.

ارتعاشات یکی از مسایلی است که درصنعت به نحو گسترده ای مورد توجه هست
شاید این گفته که ارتعاشات هرتجهیز به مثابه ضربان نبض اون تجهیزهست پربیراه نباشه
اما درتحلیل ارتعاشات ما با مورد خاصی روبرو میشویم که اکثرا درتجهیزات دوار مورد توجه وکانون خیلی از مشکلات هست!
